Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their statement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, he finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
